Custom Domains
Point a domain you own at a hosted project. It serves the same content as the project’s <slug>.yolo.host address and follows the project automatically — every deploy, and every time the project goes offline or comes back. Your domain stays with your registrar and renews there.
Connecting a domain
Open the project in the hosting console, go to its Domains tab, and choose Connect a domain you own. Enter the hostname (for example app.example.com) and choose Connect.
YOLO then shows the DNS records to add at your DNS provider:
| Record | Purpose |
|---|---|
CNAME <your hostname> → cname.yolo.host | Routes the domain to your project. |
One or more TXT records under Verification (SSL / ownership) | Prove you own the domain and let the certificate be issued. |
Once the records are in place, the certificate is issued automatically, usually within a few minutes. Routing is set up as soon as you connect, but HTTPS works only after verification completes.
Subdomains and apex domains
A subdomain such as app. or www. works with any DNS provider. A root (apex) domain such as example.com needs a DNS provider that supports CNAME flattening or ALIAS records — Cloudflare and Route 53 both do. On Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only rather than proxied.
Checking status
Each connected domain has a Check verification status button. The status reads active once the domain is verified and serving; until then the DNS records stay on screen so you can check them. A red status (such as blocked or moved) means verification failed — check the records against your DNS provider.
What can’t be connected
- Hostnames under
yolo.hostorworkers.dev. - A hostname already connected to another project. Each hostname belongs to exactly one project; to change which project it serves, move it (below).
Moving a domain to another project
Choose Move to another project on the domain and pick the destination. The domain keeps serving throughout: no certificate is reissued and no DNS changes are needed. Disconnecting and reconnecting instead would cause downtime while a new certificate is issued.
Moving is done from the hosting console only; agents can’t move domains.
Disconnecting a domain
Choose Disconnect on the domain. It stops serving immediately and its certificate is released; afterwards you can remove the DNS records. The project’s own <slug>.yolo.host address is unaffected.
Doing it with agents
| MCP tool | What it does |
|---|---|
domain.add | Connect a hostname to a project and return the DNS records to add. |
domain.status | Check a connected domain’s verification and certificate status. |
domain.remove | Disconnect a domain. |
There is no yolo deploy command for custom domains; use the hosting console or these tools.
