Agent
A coding-agent session. Give it instructions and it reads, writes and runs code in your workspace’s sandbox. The tile’s history and controls are the same whichever agent backs it.
Adding an agent
Choose an agent from the tile picker to open Add Agent:
- Agent Backend — pick the agent. Built-in choices include OpenCode via YOLO, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Muse Code, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot and Kiro; Community agents include Aider, Goose, OpenCode, Qwen Code, Neovate and Groq Code. A card marked Set up → needs a credential before it can run. See Agent Registry.
- Name and an optional Role (Architect, Worker, Test, Docs, Monitor or Chat), shown as a badge on the tile.
- New quick lane — run the agent in a throwaway lane that is named for you. See Quick Lane.
- Lane — run in the Main workspace (the shared directory), an existing lane, or Create new lane with a name and optional directory scope. A lane is its own git clone on a
lane/<name>branch, so agents in different lanes never share a git index.
Choose Add Agent. OpenCode via YOLO, Claude Code, Codex CLI and Gemini CLI are pre-installed; other agents install the first time you pick them, with the install log streaming into the tile.
The Quick Lane button in the workspace toolbar skips the dialog and starts your primary agent in a new quick lane.
You can’t switch a tile to a different agent or model after it’s created. To change agents, add a new tile, or use Replace Tile… from the tile menu.
The tile header
Besides the shared tile controls, an agent tile shows:
- the model and effort it is running with (read-only),
- Set up → or Not signed in → when the agent needs a credential or sign-in — click to fix it,
- Default model · Connect → when the agent is running on YOLO’s default model and you could connect your own,
- a lane badge when it runs in a lane, and a GOAL badge when it is working on a goal step.
Talking to the agent
Type into the tile to send the agent a message. The shortcut bar at the bottom sends common instructions in one click: Commit & Push, Pull Latest, Merge to Main, Continue, and Cancel Operation (which sends Ctrl+C). Use Customize shortcuts to add your own, either for every tile or for this tile only.
Giving the agent files
Drag files onto the tile, or choose Attach a file from the tile menu. Up to 10 files per drop are written into the agent’s working directory, and a prompt pointing at them is staged for you to review and send — nothing runs automatically.
You can also hand text to an agent from other tiles: select text, right-click, and choose Paste to…; or drop a Kanban card onto the tile.
Restarting
The tile menu offers Restart & Resume (restart and pick the conversation back up) for Claude Code and Codex when a conversation exists, or Restart agent (start fresh) otherwise. Restarting clears the live output and any reply in progress.
Closing
Closing the tile doesn’t stop work that’s recorded elsewhere, such as a Kanban card. If the tile owns its lane — as a quick lane does — and no other tile uses that lane, closing asks what to do with the lane’s changes. See Closing a Quick Lane.
Agents and other agents
Other agents can read an agent tile’s latest output with studio.read_tile_output, send it a prompt with studio.send_to_tile, and create agent tiles with studio.create_agent_tile (see Workspace MCP Server). Copy tile ID in the tile menu gives you the id they need.
