Terminal

An interactive shell in your workspace’s container, served by . Add one from the tile picker as Terminal.

Choosing where it runs

Adding a terminal opens Select Lane:

  • Main Lane — the default workspace directory.
  • An existing lane — the terminal opens in that lane’s clone.
  • Create new lane — give it a name, and optionally a role and the directories it includes or excludes.

Using the terminal

Each terminal runs inside a persistent session, so it survives disconnects, desktop switches and minimizing. If the connection drops, the tile reconnects on its own and tells you if it can’t.

  • Copy — select text and press Ctrl+C.
  • Paste — Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V or Shift+Insert (⌘V on macOS).
  • Links in the output are clickable; right-click a selected URL for Open in new tab.
  • Scrollback — Shift+wheel up, or Ctrl+Shift+S to open the full history for selecting.
  • Send to an agent — select text, right-click, and choose Paste to… to stage it in an agent or another terminal.

The terminal has no built-in search; use grep or your shell’s history search instead.

Watch mode

A terminal can run in watch mode: it re-runs a command whenever files matching its patterns change, and colors each run by whether the command passed (exit code 0) or failed. Watch-mode terminals come from workspace templates — the Frontend template includes one that runs npm test when source files change — and wait 2 seconds after the last change before running.

The header shows the command, the patterns it watches, and a run counter, with Pause watcher, Resume watcher and Restart watcher controls. The patterns and command can’t be edited from the tile.
