App

A tile app is a small application running in a tile — its own web UI, and sometimes a server-side container — that reaches your workspace only through the permissions you grant it. Apps come from the Marketplace, which also lists your own personal apps.

Installing an app

Open an app from the Marketplace to see its details, then install it. The install dialog lists what the app asks for:

  • Required permissions come with the app; you can’t turn them off.
  • Optional permissions are checkboxes, on by default.

Each permission shows its risk level. An app from an Unverified publisher also asks you to confirm you want to install it.

Installed apps appear under Apps in the tile picker. Opening an app that’s already on your grid brings its existing tile forward rather than adding a second one.

While it starts

An app with a server-side part shows its progress as it starts — for example Downloading image…, Starting container…, Waiting for app… — then Ready. A first start can take a while if the app’s image has to be downloaded. If the launch fails, the tile shows why, with Retry.

Permissions later

  • An app can ask for more access while it runs. You’ll see a request naming the app and what it wants; choose Grant or Decline.
  • To change what an app has, open it in the Marketplace and use its Manage menu: Edit permissions or Revoke. Revoking everything removes the app’s tiles; narrowing its permissions restarts it with the smaller set.

Updates

  • A new version — an Update button appears in the tile header. Updating shows any new permissions (new optional ones start off), and open tiles restart on the new version.
  • A new build of the same version — an ↑ Upgrade Tile pill appears on the tile. Upgrading restarts the app on the new build; anything in progress in that tile is lost.

Spending

Apps that use AI models have a monthly spend cap per app — $10 by default. Change it with Edit cap on the app’s Marketplace details.

Closing

Closing the tile stops the app’s container. Apps with the right permission can also send you notifications and show a short status in the tile header.
